OromoProtests – Oromo Community of Minnesota (May 4, 2014) – A Public Dialogue Forum on Current Developments in Oromia, and on How to Best Support Our Brothers and Sisters; Time: 2pm-4pm; for more info: 651-890-7389 or 651-757-3040

THEME: OROMO PUBLIC FORUM ON CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS IN OROMIA
The brutal, authoritarian Ethiopian regime is once again trying its hand at expropriating Oromo lands and displacing Oromo farmers which in turn leaves a significant portion of our people landless, homeless, and their entire social fabric disoriented.
The territorial expansion of Finfinne, in the name of the “Integrated Development Plan” has rightfully been met by intense opposition by Oromos all over Oromia and demonstrations have sprouted all over Universities, towns, and high schools. However, the peaceful demands of our compatriots are being met with live bullets and mass detentions. As a consequence, our fellow country men and women are paying the ultimate price with their lives in the face of severe government crackdown, which has left many killed, injured, and imprisoned.
We cannot sit idly by and simply lament about such injustices. We are socially and morally obligated to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters back home, and dialogue and strategize on how to effectively and positively impact the rapidly unfolding situation.
To this effect, the Oromo Community of Minnesota (OCM) is calling on all Oromo political organizations, religious and social groups, and all Oromo nations to come to a public forum. Join the public forum in your thousands and let your voices be heard.
