We are pleased to announce that we will soon be launching Gulale On Air, an interactive media platform that will facilitate discussion on various important political, social and cultural issues of our time. Gulale On Air will be a weekly live show broadcasted in Afaan Oromo ( 1hr), Amharic(1hr) and English (30 min). Content wise, the show will mostly focus on substantive themes in culture, politics, literature and the environment, sometime combined with brief commentary on news items relevant to the topic of the day.
The format is intended to be audience centered. We plan to do this in two ways. First, the audience will submit topics for each week discussion. Second, the moderator and a guest (s) will briefly discuss the topic during the first quarter of the show, then the forum will be opened up for the general audience to ask question or comment on the topic either by joining in through Google hangout or sending texts via different methods ( facebook, twitter, etc). A link onGulelepost.com will be the main avenue where the show will be available, but we are also working to simulcast it via youtube and ustream. For those who cannot tune in during the live show, we will record and make it available on the archive. While the pilot programs will be limited to internet, we hope and are working towards taking it to satellite and shortwave.
